There’s lots of planetary excitement on this Thanksgiving Day! Not only is there a New Moon, but Uranus, the planet of surprises, turns Direct. Both happen within an hour.

This morning at 8:54 AM PST, a New Moon at 5 degrees Sagittarius occurred. Sagittarius is the sign of expansion, exuberance, good luck and abundance. It is also the sign of excess and exaggeration. Depending how you use this energy, will determine how the month plays out for you.

Two planets are within 3 degrees of this moon: Mercury, the planet of Communication, and Mars, the planet of action. This conjunction indicates a month full of discourse -- particularly discussions involving the higher mind, philosophy and religion. There is also room for jokes and biting sarcasm. Think before speaking should be the motto this month.

With the Sun, the Moon, Mercury and Mars in such close company today, personal expression is highlighted. It’s not a day for keeping mum; rather, it’s a day of talking like a chatterbox and making your opinions known.

The Sagittarius Moon can bring out a sense of humor so there’s bound to be some levity even in the most didactic discourse.

As mentioned earlier, Uranus turned Direct this morning after returning to 18’44” Pisces, the degree where it was early last March. The key word for Uranus is unexpected. Pluto Returns to Capricorn Today After Nearly 250 years!

Have you been feeling like you're on the brink of something new? Not quite sure what it is, but maybe you've felt this way for the past few years while Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, has been lingering in the last degrees of Sagittarius.

For years, Pluto has been transiting Sagittarius. While there, it stirred up lots of religious havoc and contributed to a credit crisis that is out of control. Now, unfortunately, we've lost our optimism. Yes, we're ready for change and we're ready for a new, stable foundation.

As for fixing up the current economic mess, there's no better sign to streamline the excesses and to initiate a plan of responsibility that will yeild success, than Capricorn.

Capricorn is the sign of achievement. It's all about doing work that earns a great reward. At this point in our history, with the economy in the tank and credit resources scarce, there's reason to take comfort that Pluto in Capricorn can and will fix this mess.

Today, around 5 PM PST, Pluto bids Sagittarius adieu and moves into Capricorn. It's been 247 years since it's been here. Not since January 1762 until Spring of 1777 has Capricorn seen Pluto. On November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, this is something we can all appreciate. Let's be grateful for this monumental energy shift. Instead of excess and imaginary abundance, Pluto in Capricorn will snap us back to reality and show us what is real.

Once we confront the reality of our present situation, we can formulate a plan for stabilizing our economic disasters. Pluto in Capricorn tells us that in order to survive and thrive, we must tighten our belts and forget the "e" word: excess.

I'm predicting the next 16 years, while Pluto transits Capricorn, that remarkable, necessary new business practices will fix our current broken economy. It won't be without a stuggle or without hard work, but at the end of the Pluto in Capricorn transit, we will all breathe a sigh of relief as we realize we have been successful in transforming our economy, as well as ourselves, to an ethical, positive, productive society.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all Sagittarians!

It's that jubilant time of the year when the Sun moves into Sagittarius and the festive holiday season begins!

Yesterday afternoon (11-21-08 at 5:45 PM EST), the Sun officially took up residence in the constellation of Sagittarius. It will live there for the next month until the early morning of December 21st.

While the Sun is in this abundant, expansive, celebratory sign, we honor our Sagg friends. It's party time for them as they welcome in their personal New Year.

Sagg is a very optimistic, happy, party-loving, FUN sign. It's ruled by the planet Jupiter, which represents Good Luck and Good Fortune. Currently, Jupiter is in the sign of Capricorn, Sagg's traditional 2nd House, the House of Value and Money. What a perfect time for all Sagittarians to formulate a business plan and to shoot for financial success.

Pluto, the planet of Life/Death/Transformation has been living in Sagg for years and years. Finally, it will move into Capricorn on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving. Sagg can say good-bye to the chaos Pluto may have caused and focus on a new dimension. Again, it's their pocketbook, their finances. A Gorgeous Taurus FULL Moon Tonight!

What a bright and beautiful Moon in store for us tonight! WOW!!! This moon is at perigee, which means it's closest to the earth. (No wonder it was so light last night that it woke me up!)

The degree of the moon is 21 Taurus. Taurus is the sign of Value and Money. Both of these will be highlighted throughout the next 2 weeks.

There are other planetary energies interacting with this moon: For example, Neptune, the planet of illusion and fantasy, makes a square to the moon. The Moon is challenging our pretenses and is sending a strong message for us to "get real." Saturn, the planet of harsh reality, and Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion, are both in earth signs and form a wonderful Grand Trine with the Taurus Full Moon. What is real cannot be dissolved; it has permanence and value.

Despite the economy, despite our fears and insecurities in a world of illusions, we are stable if we align ourselves with our values. When we are true to our values, money flows and abundance comes to us.

SCORPIO New Moon Today -- A Powerful Month Ahead!

The Scorpio New Moon is about to make its entrance in the sky. Today at 4:14 PM PDT, the New Moon will appear. This starts the monthly cycle devoted to Scorpio issues. What are those issues?

Scorpio rules the 8th House of the zodiac, a very powerful House. It is associated with intense issues that rule Life, Death, and Transformation. This Moon will intensify those issues and bring them to the surface on an emotional level, since the Moon rules our emotions.

Other issues that fall into the Scorpio realm are: Healing, Sex and Other People's Money, as in mortgages, finances etc.

Scorpios can be very intense. Indeed, this will be an intense month with our political powers that Be. The election is bound to be very scorpionic: Intense... and a bitter fight to the end... with a promise towards Transformation for the President-elect.

This month is going to be a month of extremes with a lot of excess emotion. Scorpio is a Water Sign, deals with emotion. Don't expect much logic right now.

The New Moon is at 5 degrees 54 minutes Scorpio. That is a degree that is very Scorpio, falling in the first decante of the sign. This may be an emotional roller coaster month; however, there's always an opportunity for transformation that puts you in the driver's seat!

Belief in God and belief in Astrology: are they compatible?

Notice that the question refers to belief in God, not religion or religions. The existence of an omnipotent God, creator and master of the Universe is entirely hypothetical, since it can neither be proved nor disproved, be it scientifically, logically or philosophically. As such, it should be purely a matter of personal belief. Some people absolutely need to believe and others don’t. Had we left it at that, with no one trying to impose his views about God onto other people, this would be a much more pleasant world.

Institutionalized religions, on the other hand, always begin with the emergence of some prophet or messiah who, through sheer charisma, force of personality, and sometimes, so called miracles, manages to beguile the credulous masses into believing that he is the one and only true messenger of God. It matters not if this God is new or the revised version of an old one. The greater the number of followers the greater the likelihood that a new religion, and a new God, will be born.

In time, those religions that endure and prosper will invariably change and distort the words and intentions of their founders but that is only natural. What is not natural or, at least, should not be, is for so many millions of otherwise intelligent people to believe that there could be so many Gods. Of course, there is only one God, which happens to be the one that, from early childhood, we have been brained washed into believing is the only true one. Since we are right everybody else is wrong and must be made to see the light by any and all available measures.

Our merciful God, (if nothing else, all gods are merciful), demands that such ignorant souls be saved from burning in hell forever. Thus, wars, torture, imprisonment, murder, ridicule, to name but a few, are all acceptable means to a Holy end. God is Great! And he cares so much about us He has time to worry and frown upon us, least we displease Him, should we be tempted to eat fish on a Friday, pork at any time, shave our beards, disrespect a cow, not wear a face veil in public if female, or, heaven forbid, entertain impure thoughts about our neighbor. Depending on which God, or religion, we happen to believe in, some if not all such transgressions may be punishable by condemning the culprit to hell. Maybe purgatory, until Judgement Day. Either way, it may turn out to be forever, so don’t do it. It is and feels good to believe in an All Merciful God but… why tempt fate?

The most simple, elementary logic, would seem to indicate that, if anything, a belief in religion is definitely not compatible with a belief in God but… what about a belief in Astrology? Is there a conflict between the two? Again, from a simple, logical point of view, I don’t think so. Of course, my point of view is that of a Professional Astrologer, not a philosopher or a theologian. Also, I would not have spent the better part of my life practicing Astrology if it did not give me pleasure and I had no belief in it. The same can be said about philosophers and theologians, I suppose, but I do not intend to argue the merits of one set of beliefs against the other. What I will attempt to do is explain why I think that, unlike Religion, a belief in both God and Astrology is not only bereft of conflict but they actually complement each other.

Billions of people believe that there is a God, Master and Creator of the Universe and all things in it. Further, they believe that nothing exists, or can exist, outside this omnipotent God. Good or bad, nothing happens without God’s will. He is everywhere and everything and always has been. If we accept this premise we must also accept the fact that there cannot be any distinction between God and the Universe. They are one and the same. We also know that the Universe is entirely composed of changing, but otherwise indestructible, matter and energy, all of it acting and interacting according to immutable cosmological laws, (God’s will?).

Minuscule as they might be, human beings are part of this Universe, inextricably bound by the same laws. At the risk of being over simplistic let us assume that matter is everything that we can touch and see, while energy is what we feel; physically, such as pain, cold, the wind, and emotionally, as in love, hate, our joie de vivre or lack of it, perhaps. Well, if we are part of the Universe, (who in his right mind could deny that?), we must, per force, also be governed and constricted by the same cosmological laws that apply to everything else in such Universe. If the energy of the Moon can affect the tides of the oceans, harvests, and human moods, (physical and emotional reactions), who is to say that we are immune to the influence caused by the energy and position of the planets on our own solar system? As it happens, this is primarily what the belief in Astrology is based upon. In view of the fact that all living things are intrinsic parts of and permeated by the same matter and energy that controls the Universe, why and how could humans be exempt from the effects caused by this interaction?

Such a simple concept in no way, shape or form denies the existence of God, on the contrary, if anything, it reaffirms it. Yet, the same people who, without compunction for their intellect, will readily accept as God’s word (truth), such fairy tales as the partition of the Red Sea, or Joshua’s command that stopped the Sun and the Moon for a day, these people are first in line when it comes to scorn and ridicule Astrology. Astrology is not a science, (religion is?), how can we trust or believe in it?

Astrology may not be a science, yet, we don’t know enough about it’s workings, but, if 4000 years or so is to be considered a long time in human History, that’s how long Astrology has been around, in one form or other. Certainly longer than any of the present Great Religions. No other methodology of prediction, in spite of all its shortcomings, has withstood such a test of time.

The first astrologers were primarily interested in predicting war and peace. By doing so they were able to foretell what was of most interest to their kings. If they were wrong and could not get these predictions right their heads would have been chopped off. No more astrologers. But astrology flourished, so it is pretty safe to presume that their predictions were right more often than they were wrong. By definition, that would seem to indicate that there is more than a modicum of truth in Astrology. So… why all the skepticism?

Astrological interpretations are based on the Symbolisms astrologers gave to the planets in our solar system. The ancient astrologers observed that when two or more planets formed an angle to each other, called an Aspect, more often than not, certain things happened that did not occur when such aspects were not present. Naturally, their predictions were based on the position of the planets they could observe, The Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mercury and the Moon. (The Sun and the Moon are considered planets in astrology.) A planet was deemed to be In Aspect with another when any two, or more planets, were aligned to each other such that the angle between them was a multiple of 30 degrees. Thus, if Jupiter was at an angle of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 or 0 degrees from another planet, that occurrence was meaningful. Whether it was a good or bad Aspect was determined by the Symbolisms of the planets involved. By the way, in case you were not aware of it, it was Babylonians astrologers that invented the 360° Circle. In order to practice their craft the first astrologers had to be Mathematicians as well as Astronomers. Which also means that, unlike most religious prophets and messiahs mankind has and is still suffering from, astrologers possessed the most intelligent and enlightened minds of their times.

One thing is certain. At this stage of our development we Humans are still learning and one day, perhaps, we will find answers to all those things we know so little about, be they scientific or philosophical. Until then, the least we can do is to keep an open mind and, presently, I see no reason to think that a belief in Astrology is incompatible with a belief in God.

Mars, the fiery planet of passion and aggression, moved into Scorpio this morning. What a shift from being in gentle, sweet, harmonious Libra! Get ready for some steamy, volatile moments while Mars visits Scorpio.

Mars likes to be in Scorpio because in ancient times Mars was the ruling planet of Scorpio. When Pluto was discovered, Pluto became the ruler. However, we still call Mars the co-ruler of Scorpio.

Mars in Scorpio is interesting because Mars is such a hot, fiery planet and Scorpio is a water sign. Fire and Water make steam. That's why I say it's going to be steamy!

Scorpio is the sign of Sex and Passion. I bet it's going to be GOOD (LOL)!!! Take advantage of this sexy time and enjoy the rapture.

The New Moon in LIBRA: Spotlight on Relationships

Libra is the sign of relationships. Monday, the 29^th at 1:13 AM there is a New Moon at 6 degrees Libra. The emphasis for the forthcoming month is all about finding balance in your relationship and making sure your relationship works to bring you peace, harmony and fulfillment. If it doesn’t, it’s not the relationship for you!

There’s a little ritual you may want to do on this Libra New Moon. Within 24 hours after the New Moon, do a little meditation. Write down your hopes, dreams and wishes for your relationship. If you do not have one, you may want to ask for one. Be sure to include the qualities you are seeking. After you write your requirements, read them aloud. Then meditate on drawing that relationship to you. (Everything starts with a thought and then manifests in the physical world.)

One other thought: a relationship from the past may return. The reason is that Mercury is retrograde now in the sign of Libra. Mercury is the planet of communication. When it is retrograde, it often dredges up something unfinished from the past. Since it’s in the sign of relationships, that lost relationship just might resurface.

It officially begins at 11:45 AM PDT. That's when the Sun moves into zero degrees Libra and announces the Fall Equinox. Fall Season encompasses Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius. Right now, let's focus on Libra:

During the next month, the Sun will pass through the sign of Libra. The Sun travels about a degree a day, so over the next 30 days, the Sun will travel the course of the entire Libra constellation.

Libra is the sign of Relationships. Now is the perfect time to address relationship issues and to make adjustments to them. Libra is also the sign of Fairness and Equality. FULL Moon Monday -- What does it mean?

Early Monday morning, at 2:13 AM PDT to be precise, there is a Full Moon. This Full Moon will be in Pisces at 22 degrees. What exactly does this mean?

A Full Moon sheds the most light of any lunar phase. When the Moon is Full, the night is brighter; likewise, we as microcosms of the Universe, are also more enlightened! Whatever answers we seek are likely to be revealed if we tune into the Full Moon's energy.

Since this Full Moon is in Pisces, the sign of Creativity and Miracles, anything is possible. Ask your questions today and prepare to receive answers over the next day or two. The answer will come to you through your intuition. Trust your intutition as it is at high tide now. Pisces is about blind faith and trust, intuition and creativity without boundaries.

Uranus, the planet of brilliance, change and unexpected surprises, is conjuct the Full Moon by 2 degrees. This adds flavor to the Full Moon. Uranus likes to shake up the Moon's calm energy. Powerful PLUTO just turned DIRECT!

Get ready for major changes!

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has just changed direction and is now direct! Yes, tonight around 8:15 PDT, Pluto turned from Retrograde to Direct motion. This is a huge energy shift!

Pluto retrograded last April shortly after it entered Capricorn. Apparently Pluto wasn't finished with Sagittarius and had to go back one more time. From April thru September 8th Pluto slowly backstepped to 28 degrees Sagittarius. The next time Pluto will enter Sagittarius will be over 200 years from now.

These last 2 degrees of Sagittarius will mark the end of an era for masterful Pluto. Among many things, Sagittarius rules Religion and Philosophy. Take a look at all that has happened during the time Pluto has been in Sagittarius. In January 1995 Pluto left its home sign of Scorpio and ventured into its neighboring sign of Sagittarius. While in this sign, the spotlight has been shined on Religion: everything from Islamic Fundamentalists to Catholic Church pedofile priests to the Mormon Fundamentalist group in Utah. Pluto always digs deep, exposes secrets and then seeks Transformation.

Jupiter Turns DIRECT just about NOW!

There's cause for CELEBRATION!!! Jupiter, the great big planet of Abundance and Good Fortune, is changing direction. Officially at 9:16 PM PDT on Sunday, Sept. 7th, Jupiter will start marching forward. Since May, Jupiter has been retrograde. It's been a Summer of planning a party and now it's time for that party!

Whenever a planet is retrograde, we feel more inhibited or reflective. We pull the planet's energy into our very Being, and we try to tune ourselves to that energy. When the planet is Direct, we feel naturally in tune with the planetary energy. For example, if you compare the movement to a dance, think Direct as the one who leads, and Retrograde as the one who follows.

Because Jupiter emits such positive, optimistic energy we are going to feel that energy in every pore of our bodies. It's like a spiritual baptism of JOY. We're back to happy times and positive outlook. Don't you just feel it???

Jupiter rules Sagittarius. It's an especially good cycle for Sagg now that Jupiter is Direct.

On the political scene, Jupiter rules the Republican Party. Isn't it something how a fresh face with boundless enthusiam appeared on the brink of Jupiter moving forward?

Happy Birthday, all you VIRGOS!!!

It's time to celebrate all our Virgos as the Sun has moved from Leo to Virgo this morning around 11 AM Pacific Time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear Virgos!

Virgo is a very underestimated sign. They don't get the proper credit for all they do. They are so willing to serve and help, organize and give good, practical advise. Virgo is a very helpful sign; lucky are you if you have some Virgo friends.

Virgo is an Earth sign. Earth signs are good with money. Virgo usually has good habits and is concerned with health. Virgos get a lot of satisfaction out of helping others. There is an old expression about Virgos which says about them, "Serve or Suffer."

There is some talk among Astrologers that the ruling planet of Virgo should be CERES, the newest planet. Traditionally, Mercury is the ruling planet, but now they are looking into a possible revision. Ceres is a great goddess...she is all concerned with nurturing and taking care of the body. For example, the word CEREAL comes from Ceres. Virgos know how to keep themselves fit.

A side little tidbit: rumor has it that Virgos are great lovers. Scorpios get the credit, but they say Virgos really have them beat.

Sitting in THE POWER SEAT

Have you ever had a hard time deciding where to sit at a restaurant, meeting, dinner party etc? Well, the best place to sit is in the Power Seat.

WHERE IS THE POWER SEAT?

Very simple. The seat OPPOSITE the DOOR is the power position. Therefore, if you want to have the advantage and be in the power position, choose the seat opposite the door. On the other hand, if you sit with your back to the door then you are in the weakest place.

Selecting the right seat can give you an enormous benefit. For example, if you plan on meeting your boyfriend at a restaurant or such and you arrive first, you get to choose the power seat as you wait for him. It's always fun to know you're sitting in the power place!

WHAT IS A LUNAR ECLIPSE?

By definition a Lunar Eclipse is an obscuration of the Full Moon when it passes through the shadow of the earth. Therefore, a Lunar Eclipse occurs whenever the Moon passes through some portion of the earth's shadow. This means the earth stands between the Moon and the Sun.

TODAY'S LUNAR ECLIPSE:

The Lunar Eclipse takes place today, August 16, 2008, at 2:18 PM PDT. It will be a partial eclipse at 24 degrees Aquarius. Anyone whose birthday is around Valentine's Day is likely to experience the effects of this eclipse.
