Magick Cleansing Bath

This is a simple ritual to cleanse the spirit after a stressfull day.

All you need are the following ingredients:

Sea Slat

Sage

Rosemary

Lavender

Be sure your are already physically clean before doing this, also make sure your tub is clean.

Now find a bowl and mix all the above ingredients together and close your eyes as you mix them with your right hand. Feel the calming energy of the mixture. Put in your thoughts of relaxation and peace. If you feel it is needed say a prayer over the mixture asking your higher power to bless the mixture and bring you comfort and peace.

Now fill up the tub (make the water nice and warm so you are fully relaxed in it and do not add any bubbles or anything like that).

Once the tub is fully filled dump the bowl with mixture in the water and slowly sit in the tub. Let the warmth of the water and the scent of the herbs take over your body.

Think about all the things that have been stressing you out and causing chaos in your life and let the water wash them away. Realize that once you get out of the tub these things will no longer be on your mind.

Relax. Take as long as needed. This is your time. No one elses.

When you feel ready and you feel you let go of all the negative energy let the water drain from the tub. As it drains stay in the tub and visualise your problems being sent down the drain with the water.

Once all the water is drained from the tub get out, air dry yourself (another words do not use a towel). Look in the mirror and say "As the water washed over me and went down the drain so did todays problems making me stronger for a new day."

Tarot Lessons: The Motherly Empress

The Empress, a card that shows a pregnant woman with a knowing smile.

She has been there and done that and is ready not to lead you or tell what you "should do" but instead she is ready to listen and see what you have learned.

This is not saying that she will not give you her advice but she does know that if you have done nothing but sit and complain and wonder "why me?" or worse yet, take on the "poor me" attitude nothing will ever be accomplished and she can talk till she is blue in the face but if you are stuck in your ways she will not just wave a magic wand and *poof* make everything all better.

The empress encourages, no she demands you to realize what your rut is and she demands of you to take control of it. Then and only then will she help you get through the troubles.

Like any good mother the empress is always there, but also like any good mother the empress will only offer advice an not do it for you. The empress also encourages you to make your own mistakes and she also encourages you to indulge in your awards. Howveer the darker side of the empress is overindulgence. Just because things are going good for the time being this is not a time to get cocky and the empress has no problem giving you a good back hand and knocking you off your pedistal when you get to cocky.

This card reminds us of of a mother love and a mother stength, it even encourages us to take on the role of the mother. Even for guys. For those of you of the Wiccan Path look at this card as the mother aspect of the Goddess, the time to give and teach. The time to encourage and nurture.

We all take on roles of the empress at one point in your our lives. Wether we're literally parents or wether we're in someones life as the nurturer, the empress is just a card that reminds us how much strength is treully inside us and how much we have to teach.

Tarot Lessons: And The Tower Falls

It can all hit you so fast, and without mercy, causing you to collapse and fall to the ground gasping for air and often wondering and asking yourself the famous "Why me?" or "What did I do to deserve this?".

This card is The Tower, and it can seems hopeless and it can seem like the bully, and you know what it can be hopeless and it sure can be the bully-if you allow it to be.

Or you can turn into a great learning expierence, you can realize that even the tower has collapsed you haven't. To many people see this card and automatically take on the "oh great it really is that bad" attitude.

You know what maybe it might be "that bad" or maybe this is just what you needed. Maybe you needed to see everything fall apart, wether it be physically or metaphorically. Sometimes you just need to sit back and watch it all fall. Save what you can from falling but just take a deep breath and let the rest go. You can always pick the pieces back up later and *gasp* rebuild.

Now I know, I know. We don't always want to start over, sometimes we like to get caught up in out own little rut because it's what we are use to.

The Tower reminds us that we need sometimes get shaken up at times and be forced to move out of that rut and start taking *even bigger gasp* responsibility for our own lives.

Letting go is never easy and giving up what our comfort zone is even harder, but if this comfort zone is making you miserable and digging tou deeper and deeper into your rut then guess what? It's time to grab your tools and move on!

"But this is hard." Some may whine, well guess what? Life is hard. And life doesn't care if you are happy or miserable, it's going to throw at you what it's going to throw at you. Now are you just a prepared for the good stuff as you are for the bad? Like it or not both are going to hit, and sometimes both are going to hit you right after the other one. Leaving it up to you to rebuiild your own foundation and creating an even better tower than the one you already had.

Tarot Lessons:As The Chariot pulls you

The Chariot is a card that often confused me when I first started reading. It is both a card of balance as well as a card of seperation.
I remember one of my first teachers in my tarot studying saying this card is like the brat child of the major arcana it demands discipline but at the same time has no problem running you ragged as it pulls you in two vastly different directions.
So which way is the chariot pulling you? Is it pulling you in two directions at once as you throw your hands up in exasperation and just ready to give up? Or are you grabbing the reigns and realizing that in order to find the balance you need to take of the chariot and lead it and not let it lead you.
In the rider-waite deck (picutred above) the chariot sphinxs are drawn in two colors, white and black, ying and yang. Which represent good and evil. Now this does not mean that that one path is better or worse than the other, but it does remind us harshly that you have to take the good with the bad.
SOmetimes you have to go through the bad to get to the good. Sometimes you have to quit comtemplating so much and just grab the reigns so to speak and charge into the situation, even if it's something you'd rather not face.
The chariot is a card that shows up when you usually don't have much control and it bluntly reminds you take that control, as no one else is going to do it for.
If you need control of the situation at hand and you need to quit being pulled in two different directions then you have to take the first step. It is your life after all so why allows others to dictate it?
More than anything this card simplely put is about taking control and shaping your own "destiny" (yes the word is in quotes as I don't believe we have a predesigned destiny, the choice is ultimately yours always. you just need to be remind of that).

Tarot Lesson:Learning from The Hanged Man

Sometimes you just need to be the Hanged Man. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about The Hanged Man is card in the Major Arcana part of the Tarot.

This card is card of facing and making sacrifices, it's a card of stepping back and just taking a break from it all and looking into your life from the outside. Now yes, I'm aware this is a very nutshelled meaning of this card but I see no need to make this a cryptic meaning, as I do not se the card as a cryptic card.

This card shows up for me alot, why does it show up for me alot? Well most likely because I over worry and like to be in control. Whenever I get to over worried and worked up I find this card jumping front and center for myself. I find myself seeing the picture of a man hanging by his ankle and even though I've been reading the tarot for over ten years my first reaction to this card is always deafeat.

Until I realize he's still smiling.

Yes thats right, he is hanginmg from his ankle and smiling. Now I have come across a few decks where he is not smiling but for the most part I've realized this card is usually drawn with the hangman having a serene look on his face.

He is perfectly content hanging there. He is perfectly content taking a back seat for the time being and just watching, waiting and learning.

Now this is not a card of an easy way out and this is not a card telling you to just give up. When the hanged man shows up he is card of showing you that it's okay if you are not in control, it's okay if you do not have a complete handle on the situation at hand. Maybe your not suppose to. Maybe the whole point is just realizing that you are strong enough to pull through on your own. All you need to do is step back and wait for your chance to make your move.

Remember in Norse Mythology Odin also hung from a tree for a period of time before the runes where shown to him. He had to step back from his "godly duties" before realizing that the knowledge he sought was reflecting in the water beneath him.

I think we could all learn from the hang man.

Whats It's Like to Know Everything?

I couldn't believe I was just asked this question.

I couldn't believe as I studied this womans face that she honestly believed what she just asked me.

"What do you mean?" I asked. "I never once said I know everything....in fact I know far from anything half the time."

"You know," SHe start as she shrugs dramaticly. "Being psychic! It must be so cool to know whats going to happen before it happens."

I take a deep breathe and remind myself that she really has no clue what she is talking about before clearing my throat and saying "It's not like that." Pausing for a minute to gentlely tap my cats heads and playful scold him for scratching on my jeans I conitnue.

"Actually it's not even close to that. I can't just know whats going to happen, I mainly just pick up on emotional levels and I listen to what the guides my guides tell me."

"So the Tarot cards must give you the answers then?" She asks cutting me off.

"No."I say firmly. "The Tarot is a tool I use much like crystals. I use them as tool to help give my intuition a boost, they only are the key. The door to it I personally believes comes from a higher source then the cards."

"Like God?"

"I guess you could call it god. I personally believe it more just to be guiding spirits though."

"So what your saying is you don't know everything?" She asked again kind of dissapointed in my answers.

"I know only what I'm allowed to know, just like yourself, I just am told in different ways." I say.

"I still think it cool." She says as she gets up and skips her way across my front lawn and heads back to her house.

I laugh to myself and go back to my yard work.
