Goals and Methods:

This year is my tenth anniversary of becoming a professional reader. There's a lot more community mentorship and accountability with ratings than there was in my mother's generation. However, I find myself wanting more ways to create goals that stretch both myself and my students that I apprentice. Though ratings often show themes of accuracy, precision and courtesy, as a former school-teacher, I feel there is a dearth of standards in the psychic industry. Those provided by associations or commercial businesses often focus on ethical or surface behaviors and natural predispositions, offering good readers little room for growth. Eventually, I want each reader to be able to develop SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely) goals of their own choosing.

I have my own goals, but I'm biased towards my own personal growth and education. Using Bloom's Taxonomy of learning (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation), I eventually wish to develop an industry-wide rubric for myself and any other readers who choose to adhere to it.

On it will be descriptions of what it "looks like" when a reader exemplifies each of the client's desired characteristics, as well as what it looks like when a reader falls short. In this way, objectively measurable goals can be made by each reader to work on his or her weaknesses. I'm looking for the following groups of people to take my survey.

Psychic Readers who have also experienced receiving psychic readings
Satisfied Clients of Psychic Readings
Unsatisfied Clients of Psychic Readings

Please pass on this survey to any groups who may fit into one or more of the groups above. When taking the survey, you may post it as a comment, or email your answers privately should you choose not to share them.

The Survey:

1.) Let me know if you are a reader, a satisfied client of psychic readings, an unsatisfied client of psychic readings, or whatever combination of the three you might be.

This survey may be difficult to understand, so please simply use it as a guide if it is helpful to convey what standards you would like to see all readers in the psychic industry reach. In an effort to not preconceive what clients want, I used Bloom's Taxonomy of learning to cover different ways in which a student can improve. If it is not useful to you, please feel free to express your standards in whatever way you clearly can. Please begin by familiarizing yourself with the verbs in the wheel below. The wheel shows descriptive verbs and products that a student can create to demonstrate those verbs. For each question, you may use some of these descriptive verbs to help you convey needs clearly in a way that somebody seeking to improve can understand.

2.) Knowledge (What do you want your reader to know?)

This pertains to knowledge of specific facts. Examples include knowing the names of each of their clients, being able to name all of the astrological sun signs or arch angels. Being able to recite a meaning for each tarot card.

3.Comprehension (What do you want your reader to understand?)

This pertains to a deeper understanding of knowledge. Examples include understanding how each tarot card relates to the hero's journey, understanding the relationships between the planets in astrology, or comprehending a modern day relevance of Christian mythology.

4.) Application (What skills do you want your reader to be able to do?)

This pertains to specific skills. Examples include writing, reading tarot cards, drawing up a natal chart or seeing visions without divinatory tools.

5.) Analasys. (What do you want your reader to be able to diagnose or analyze?)

This pertains to the way that a reader examines information. Examples include interpreting a natal chart with regard to a recent relationship or helping a client decide which divinatory tool might best be used to interpret a specific question.

If you value monogamy and you're afraid that you're playing second fiddle to this guy in another country, then this problem is indicative of a greater problem in the relationship. If your current boyfriend is shopping around, wherever he may be looking, you should probably talk to him about what sort of a commitment you expect rather than worrying about if and when it will be broken.

It's good that you didn't try putting a spell on her. If you are sure that she doesn't love you, then it is safe to stop trying. You may want to remain friends with her, but as hard as it is to hear, it would be best for you and her if you didn't try to push it further.

Dear Kali,

This is a common problem for women whose boyfriends are afraid of arousing their anger! The first step that I'd suggest is one that you've probably already done. Tell him clearly that you always appreciate the truth. That a lie will simply add hurt to whatever negative thing that he needs to communicate to you. Examine your own reactions to things that he tells you. Are you quick to defend yourself? Do you make accusations? Think things through carefully before you say them and focus on how you feel and perceive the situation rather than telling him what he's doing. If you think it will help, you might want to write each other letters when you are angry. It gives you time to think and choose words, while eliminating the opportunity for a hurtful face-to-face quip.

Let Your Ex Miss You

Using dramatic, shock and awe tactics to win back your ex may actually have a terribly negative effect, making your ex dig in his or her heels to resist a reunion! A more subtle approach may be necessary, and the gentle touch may allow your ex to feel like it was his or her idea all along to get back together!

In The Phantom Of The Opera, character Christine makes it look easy to tug at heartstrings when she sings, "think of all the things we've shared and seen, don't think about the way things might have been." Christine is expertly using nostalgia as a powerful psychological tool. How can you use this effectively on your ex? Do your best to recreate memories using all of the senses. The more you can place your ex back in those wonderful moments, the more your ex will wonder why it ever ended!

Smell: Scent is the sense most closely linked to memory. Wearing a perfume or cologne when you are around your ex can send a powerful subconscious signal to remember the good times.
Sound: It is easy to remember the exact thing that you were doing when you first heard that wonderful song. Get him to listen to a tune that was playing when you first made love, when you shared a dance, or even one from a pleasant road-trip together.
Sight: Remembering old television shows or movies that the two of you shared together can be a simple tactic that seems innocent to use! The idea is to let him glimpse back in time those instances which touched his heart, even if they are funny!
Touch: A simple touch of your hand on the arm might send those old feelings back. Making references to moments in time in which you were close in each others' arms can bring back that feeling of warmth.
Taste: If you are a good cook, or if the two of you shared a bite to eat at a romantic restaurant or two, a quick mention of food can easily make him or her hungry for more of you.

Memories and emotion are closely linked. Sometimes, that can work to our detriment! I'm sure you've had an angry argument in which every single bad memory seems to be brought to light, even if it happened long ago. During a fight, it can sometimes seem impossible to remember one good thing about the person in question! But memories linked to positive emotions can have that snowball effect just as easily. Recalling one loving moment can easily bring to mind another, and another, until soon your ex is reflecting about the good times on his or her own!

Your dealings with females this week may be exceptionally trying, especially if you're attempting to get a word in edgewise! Patient and careful language may be key. Talk in person about it whenever possible. There's no avoiding planning and you tend to feel overwhelmed with the enormity of it all, but you can still rest in this calm before the storm, and bask in the hope provided by the spiritual realm!

Pisces - The Fish (February 20- March 20)

Get a move on! I know you want to talk endlessly with your friends about it before you do it, but you're going to need to move without having all their advice first. You might not follow the right advice anyway! Follow your heart in matters of love, especially when it means letting go of something that has been hurting you. Finances don't seem very fair at all right now to you, but trust yourself and your gut when investing.

Wolf Moon Prayer Requests

I see that there are a few who come here that use readings to address the body and mind, but with a starving soul drawing them back. I'm in a bit of a spot and don't have any one in a higher order from which to ask questions and get advice. My best friend recently met a woman. I was very happy for him until I started hearing stories about her. He is all but head over heels for her, and apparently, she has some feelings for him. Only problem is, she's got another boyfriend as well as girlfriend and has a few other "suitors." I recently told my best friend I care about him, even love him, and don't want him hurt. I told him what I had heard about her and he accused me of being jealous and wanting me for himself. I tried for days to make him understand what I was trying to tell him and finally he just stopped listening. My last words to him where that I would pray he didn't get hurt and to her, she better pray that she doesn't hurt him. I'm lost without my friend and I want to be able to at least enjoy his friendship again. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I wasn't sure about how you came into the knowledge of the girl's other love interests. Are these people you have heard about as "stories" from mutual friends, or have you met these suitors personally? Make sure that you aren't being caught up in a chain of rumors. Give the girl the benefit of the doubt. Does your friend know about his competition? If so, you shouldn't let yourself be too concerned. Open relationships are perfectly acceptable when the people involved are fully informed and mature.

Second, remember that your friend is in ultimate control and can make decisions for himself. If you have informed him about how you feel personally about his girlfriend, then you have done your job. Now, the best thing you can do is to sit back and allow your friend to live his life and make mistakes. Be there for him if he needs your help and listening ear during troublesome times.

Renton, WA, 12/31/2008 - Thank you for soliciting 2009 predictions from Renton psychics! I enjoyed the December 31st article in the Renton Reporter. Before I begin divining the potential for 2009, I'd like to stress that, if my answers differ from those of Jeannie or any other psychics in our wonderful Renton intuitive community, it does not mean that any is better than one or the other. If psychic readings could simply "tell the future," they would be a neat party trick, but they certainly would not be any help at all. Each of us is in charge of our own destiny, and thus, the destiny of Renton. Just as measuring with different tools in a scientific experiment may vary results, you will see each of us reflect our own take on what we see. What you do with our forecasts is up to you!

1. When do you see Renton's economy recovering?

I'm certainly not a financial expert, but I imagine much of it has to do with who you are! After all, I'm doing fine in the current economy! However, I did a little pendulum dowsing and I found that fall of 2009, September, is going to be an auspicious month for the Renton economy. I'd advise investors and business owners to look forward to that time!

2. Have you done any readings/predictions for well known Rentonians or other celebrities?

All of my clients are special to me, but I keep their identities confidential from the press or anyone else, very much like any other kind of counselor. However, I am sometimes asked to perform readings by the press or private groups of people for a company or a public figure. Recently, I've been often asked about the fate of Boeing as well as local and national political figures.

3. Is next year's weather going to be as unusual as this year's?

I drew a couple of tarot cards to take a look at this year's seasons. The Temperance card is an appropriate one for this region normally, so I think the pendulum swing may take a bit of a break for a while this year and we can welcome back our usual balance of rainy weather, for those of us who like it! For the most unusual season, I drew the inverted Six of Wands, which represents a unique weather system this summer, but no worries!

4. What is the most exciting thing that's going to happen in Renton in 2009?

I chose to use my crystal ball for this question. I saw a gloved hand accepting a large amount of money, which may represent working people gaining more rewards. With regards to the economy question asked earlier, this is a very fortunate symbol, and I think that the hard work of new businesses can bring in more money to our Renton!

5. How do you think Obama will do during his first year as president?

I drew some more tarot cards for him. The inverted Nine of Cups shows that controversy over people he appoints will be a challenge to the emotions of Americans, but will be easily forgiven by many. The King of Swords shows that he is going to have to make some tough decisions that may make him seem cold-hearted and distant from the needs of some, especially with cuts that have to be made. However, he will make some superb communications with other nations. The Ten of Swords inverted though shows that so much of what has piled up for him is overwhelming,and it will be the many small things, rather than the few big things, which seem to make the largest impact on him. This card does make me worry for his health and safety in the future, so I hope he watches the right priorities.

6. The future of downtown Renton?

I looked in my crystal ball and saw ivy leaves growing. This represents that life may spring up in some areas of Renton more than others, and the challenge will be not to choke out the things that we truly need so that we can have sustained and even growth.

7. Will the economy ever revive?

What a question! I'm no economist, but I imagine that fluctuation is natural! Of course, it is all a matter of perspective, but my pendulum indicates that by the Summer of 2012, some peoples' industries may be revitalized enough to be considered quite revived, indeed.

8. How will the Seahawks and Mariners do?

I'm not a fan of team sports, so the benefit of this question is that I have no personal investment in the answers! I pulled a tarot card for each team. The Seahawks have the Six of Pentacles, which can represent a very positive winning streak and smart material decisions being made. The Mariners have the inverted High Priestess card lying in front of them. Somebody doesn't trust their intuition here, and that might be a setback, especially when an important player may have a problem of a duration that isn't known at the time.

9. Will the Sonics ever come back to Seattle?

The Sonics got the King of Cups, which represents an emotional link to Seattle that will always be a part of their roots. However, at this time it also represents a satisfaction in the way things are, and so such a move is not projected as likely with this card.

10. What will the price of gas be in December 2009?

I looked in my crystal ball and saw a flood of numbers! They often come to me jumbled, so I saw a 6, followed by a 2 and then a 3, so let's hope for all of our sakes that this indicates something as low as $2.36 rather than getting to that $6 mark!

Working through trust issues like that can be difficult or impossible depending on the people and the futures they seek. Be sure that you are not being used as a back-up. Since it sounds like there are no marriage vows or children in the picture, I would recommend taking a break from that relationship. Otherwise she would always wonder what may have been with the other man and you might be used by her in a repetitive cycle of abuse of trust.

Whenever a parent is abusing a child physically or emotionally it is important to get outside help. If they live with him part of the time, then you may wish to enlist in the help of a social worker to investigate and intervene if necessary. Use any legal means you can. Don't speak badly of him to the children, but don't allow yourself to be abused by him. Distance yourself emotionally from him while allowing him to remain in the life of the children. Keep your spirits up through prayer and support from family and friends!

Dear Shasai,

I suggest that you cut communications with the girl who doesn't wish your relationship to succeed. Write her a letter telling her that you would like her to not contact you again. Be polite in the letter and don't give her anything to argue with. Simply state that you would like the harassment to cease and ignore her.
