Some people who have not examined astrology oppose it because they think it limits our capacity for choice in life. This is far from true. Astrology does provide a perspective, a frame of reference, which reflects the capacities of an individual. But, it is up to each of us to choose how we use these capacities. Astrology's ability to provide meaningful information about our potentials can be used to make productive choices, not to limit them. Without some awareness of who we really are we are not choosing, we are simply reacting. An intelligent use of astrology also includes all other sources of information (and inspiration) in making life choices. (I borrowed this from a lesson in an astrology lesson I am studying.)

If an astrologer ever tells you that this will happen no matter what never believe it, we all have free will and  yes some things are meant to happen but as someone once told me, we have the choice to make it a head on collision or to make it a fender bender..
