Mindblowing Conversation

This morning I had to take my child into a surgical center to get some dental work done, and while he was resting/coming too, I struck a conversation with the nurse. She talked about her child not doing his work in school and what not, almost as if she was comparing him to my autistic child, but her child was not autistic.

I told her how my son's teacher tried to skate around the topic of ADD with my 9 year old, but that it was against the law for her to actually say ADD (which it is) and I told her there was no way they were going to put my child on drugs when in fact he is just highly empathtic.

She said, "Well you do what you got to do to get your kids through,".

I said, "Yeah but you know what Ritalin is don't you?"

She gave me a long stare and I continued, "There was an article in the paper some 9 years ago, about how it took a scientist to tell the difference between it and cocaine,".

"Yeah, but my child is on concerta, which is amphetamine," she admitted.

"Oh so they just upgraded to harder drugs, nice," I said sarcastically. "You know your child is gifted highly empathic and if he knew that he wouldn't have to be on those drugs," I informned her.

"Well, we don't use it at home, or during the summer or during vacations, because we don't have a problem with him at all. It's just used for school," she explained.

This conversation was an absolute mind blower- a parent admittedly putting their child on amphetamine because she and her husband are too busy to look into Empathy.

I still recommend the E-Book , Empathy- The Truth Behind It! It talks about this subject and as far as I can see, it is absolutely dead on when it comes to the solution for the future of our Crystal Children and Rainbow Children.  It's a must read for any parent who is about to or already has out of frustration decided to give in to the pressure of society~ I am still awe struck!

I've found that some of that behavior also can be attributed to food allergies.  For instance, years ago, I found out my child was allergic to food with corn syrup in it.  Corn syrup is cheaper than sugar and lots of food manufacturers use it.  Corn syrup would always make her very belligerant, crabby and non-attentive and I could always tell when she had eaten something that contained corn syrup.  Lots of things in food affect kids little systems such as artificals, gluten, corn syrups, even some pure vegetables.  We were both happier when we found her triggers and stuck to a healthy diet.

I feel we need to be CAUTIOUS when labeling another individual. From my own experiences, while my children have all been diagnosed with ADHD, it is only my youngest who is gifted psychically.  My son, a genius by testing, was labeled a behavioral problem until I demanded he be tested by the School Psychologist. He has no empathic abilities to speak of.  My other 2 older daughters were diagnosed after having been tested before I adopted them. They had social skills issues having been abused by their Step-Mothers and were having issues re-integrating and adapting to a better home life.
I do not believe in medicating a child, but certainly understand if  meds are needed....as a last resort!  PTSD comes off as ADHD in adults....been there, doing that!
I myself opted for a more natural approach... NO processed foods (boxed mac & cheese, rice a roni, canned beef stew, etc). EVERYTHING in my home is made from scratch.  My home is run, as I've been told, like a military camp... offering structure, praise, and yes, punishment for wrong-doing.  Have I exposed my children to meds?  Yes, but have successfully weaned them from it without consequence.  The girls were on meds before they came to me. But again...MY children...MY choice.

I think in our quick fix attitude and dysfunctional society, we need to step back and re-evaluate our own circumstances and not Judge those  who have chosen a different path.

I get this knee-jerk reaction from those who are quick to label.  My brother's friend is bi-polar/ADD and he feels everyone else is too. Of course that's his excuse for his unacceptable behavior and uses it frequently during the day...but I digress.

And for some in the Healthcare Profession where science is exact, suggesting the Metaphysical realm as a possible reason for their child's condition must be introduced with a modicum of discretion and an extreme soft sell. We need to remember, not everyone on the Planet believes the same way.

Thank you for providing us with the information of the eBook.  I will definitely
be reading it!

I personally think children are now medicated for behaviors they grew out of when I was growing up.

I am completely against medicating children.  The numbers of children or adults who really need it, is so small in comparison to those who actually are given medication.

I am amazed by how many kids are on it.  My son's teacher, medicateds both her boys, and just says "they're my ADHD kids."  I have to tell you the more I learn about psychology and diagnosis, the more I am not convinced it is a science.  It seems to be the diagnosis of the time.

In sobriety I see people medicated early only to be told years later by someone else they don't think the first opinion was an accurate diagnosis.  So for years chemicals are be ingested that aren't really working.
Let me say this is my opinion only.  For my family.

I completely concur with the author of this blog
