Why Be Negative When There Is So Much To Be Positive About
Sitting in my garden at 8.30am this morning I stopped for a moment and opened my eyes and my ears.
My garden is a rainbow of colour from all the flowers that are starting to bloom , the birds are entertaining me with their morning song as they call out to each other. The smell of coffee and breakfast being prepared from the houses around me teases my taste buds, a soft gentle breeze is blowing and the sun is warming on my skin, the early morning dew glistens on the spiders webs dangling from the trellis.
I realised how very lucky we are, Yes you are lucky too even though you prefer not to admit it, even though your eyes and ears are closed to the riches around you, even though you won’t allow yourself to see the abundance in everything you have and everything you do, you are far too busy whining about what you don’t have to appreciate even the simplest of things.
Imagine waking up in the morning wondering if the food truck will arrive today, wondering if you are strong enough to make the long hike to get the water you so badly need, wondering if you will live to see the end of the day, but being grateful you will get the chance to try.
Imagine waking up in the morning to the sound of gun fire and rockets exploding close by, wondering how long you will have electricity for today, wondering if it’s safe to step outside or if you will be hit by a sniper’s bullet, but being grateful you will get the chance to try.
Imagine waking up knowing you are facing another day on the local rubbish heap collecting cans to sell for a pittance just so you can feed your grandchildren because their parents have died of aids, all the time worrying about their safety in the streets because you know they may be kidnapped and sold to child traffickers. Or waking up as a scared 10 year old but having to be brave because your 5 year old sister relies on you to look after her because your parents were killed by bandits, but being grateful you will get the chance to try.
If you wake up in the morning worrying about how you are going to manage till your next pay cheque, STOP….be grateful you have a next pay cheque to look forward to.
If you wake up in the morning worrying if you have enough gas in your car to get to the supermarket STOP……be grateful you have a car and a supermarket to go to.
If you wake up in the morning angry at everyone else because your life has taken a bit of a downward trend STOP...... you are free to make changes to your life.
If you wake up in the morning and all you can think about is what you don’t have STOP………one day you might not have what you DO have so start being grateful for the little things before they are gone.
Blessings
