What is it all about?

Working my way around the shops this past week, trying to find the “non Christmas” related food stuffs, battling with the crowds, trying not to get upset or angry by the total lack of manners and the pushing and shoving, tempers being lost, the look of stress on people’s faces as they almost run from shop to shop loaded down with bags.  I started to hear the same phrase over and over again “I’ll be glad when it’s over”.

I sat on a bench in the centre of town, drinking a hot chocolate and watching everyone and realised how very lucky I am in ways that would seem strange to a lot of people, Christmas Day for me is just another day……..

Come Christmas morning, I will light a candle, say a prayer, sit quietly and let the angelic voices of the choirs wash over me.  After that I don’t know what I will do, it depends what Spirit has in store for me.

For many people being able to have a quiet, peaceful, non stress related Christmas isn’t an option, many of you will be getting up at “silly hour” to get the Christmas meal cooking, or will be woken to squeals of delight (usually after you’ve only just closed your eyes to sleep) as children wake up and discover that Santa has been.

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, a day for present giving, a winter festival, a day for joy and laughter, a day for peace and love. A day to share, a day to extend a kindness. A day to give thanks, a day for hugs and kisses.  A day when dreams come true for some, a day when we remember those who are not here with us. A day for new beginnings. A day to celebrate life.

Christmas is a time of many traditions and religions all mixed up together and celebrated as one.

For me everyday is a celebration of Christ, a day for present giving, a day for joy and laughter, a day for peace and love, a day for dreams coming true, a day to remember those who are not here with us, a day to extend a kindness, a day to share, a day to give thanks, a day to hug and kiss. A day of new beginnings. A day to celebrate life.

What does Christmas really mean to me, I don’t know, I really don’t know, you see when I take away the commercialism and list what Christmas is about it really is just another day for me.

What ever it means to you, and however you celebrate it, don’t be glad when it’s over and you can forget about it for another year, be glad the celebration of life has begun and celebrate it everyday, because everyday should hold the meaning of Christmas.

This is a very interesting true piece, well done! Wouldnt it be lovely if the true spirit of Christmas could be carried on each day, after all, we are celebrating the birthday of Christ our saviour and brother! I know the children's Nativity play means so much, with its simplicity, innocence and wonder, just like that first Christmas.Thank you Trinity for all your wonderful, enlightening sharings over the past year. You certainly bring the light into many many lives the world over. Enjoy your Christmas day, I hope it is special in some way because your gifts make other people feel special.

My dear friend.....Before the kids get up and we start our day, as I do everyday, I and my Lord have our time together.  It's our time of the day...where no one can disrupt or disturb us..where I give Thanks for the abundance of what I have and ask Him to guide me through my day where all I do is for His Honor and Glory.  I thank Him for my children, my family, and ask HE wrap His loving arms around them and guideand protect them form harm.  I end our time always with, "Thy Will be done"
And during the day, we light candles on a cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus for it is His day.  This is the first year I am 1500 miles from my family...I'll call them and wish them all Merry Christmas.  We'll cry because I am not there to bring the Holiday Cheer to their homes, but as I say to everyone...I am always with you...
And on Tuesday, my love, I am with you, too....I will include you in my prayers and send my love and light to you across the pond. Shoudl you wish, I'll even set a place at my table for you so you can enjoy the feast with us!
Merry Christmas my dear friend!  Loves ya!
