There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

Sitting in my beloved garden finding my centre, re-grounding myself.  There is a warm breeze stirring getting stronger with each breath.

The birds cry out to one another with loud vices to be heard above the wind then quieten to an occasional chatter as the wind dies down.

Watching the flowers dance around sometimes making great sweeping bows to each other, I am privileged to see their “undersides” some just as magnificent but totally opposite to the side they present to others on a hot day.

The wind whistles through the bamboo screen reminding me of the silly ghost noises children make.  The washing is flapping making a clack clack noise as it is lifted high in the air then left to drop down again.  The wind chimes play a tune known only to the wind building up to a great crescendo then gently dropping back to silence.

The sun winks at me between the clouds warming me for a little while, reminding me of the warm days that have been and those yet to come.

When the storm comes I will simply move indoors and watch it from the safety of my inner haven.  I don’t mind it’s on it’s way, it will freshen up the earth, wash the flowers and help them grow.  I don’t need to be involved in the storm, I don’t need to let it spoil my day, a storm today holds the promise of a brighter more vibrant tomorrow.

Sometimes we need a storm to make things clearer, brighter and to make us a little stronger.

Blessings.

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

PERFECT to read as there has been a huge storm brewing around me for the past month or so!! Good to be reminded that the flowers need the water to grow even more vibrant.  The other day I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art down the block from me in NYC. I just needed to break away from feeling everyone's discord. To my amaze I came upon a wonderful Turner exhibition. It is currently closed tot he public but I did my magic twinkle and was allowed in. Turner is my favorite artist of all time. I am a "post historic abstract expressionist"... and art critics quotes as I find labels so amusing.

Anyway, back to Turner. I studies at the Royal College of Art in London and my studio was in the back of the V&A museum... oh the lovely ghosts that roam those halls. The V&A has these WONDERFUL Turner watercolors - and they were at the MET. They reminded me of my afternoon hikes in "constable country" where you can see the storms coming from such a distance. I loved to watch the blade of wheat bobbing in the wind drunk with sunlight.

And THEN....I walked through the galleries with bated breath... would they be there??? And sure enough my 2 favorite paintings of all time, borrowed from the Tate in London, were hanging side by side...soul mates (sic).  There they were: the moment right before the deluge & the morning after the deluge. A tear rolled down my cheek.

Since 2000 life has been the "perfect storm" for me but now I believe it is finally AFTER the deluge. Sometimes the pools of water that are left over before all completely dries up are the most toxic...for they have such concentrated elements left over from the storm. BUT...important to remember it IS OVER...and soon the sun will dry up all leftovers from the storm.

I thank you TC for your blog; it reinforced these dynamics for me...and you helped me to remember the joy of the garden...and what I have to look forward to.

I also think that for ALOT of folks their "Perfect Storm" is just about to begin, or has begun over the past few months.... so I am sure and I hope your post will help them to remember that storms DO have benefits...and sometimes if only to get you to appreciate the sunny days when you have them.

Thanks TC (totally cool)

P.S. I certainly don't mind you taking the largest muffin as it is YOUR blog... but please, pretty please, save the chocolate chip one for me?

DP (Delicate Pandering),thank you for your comment and how lovely that my blog reminded you of a favorite master, I love a good painting that you can loose yourself in and build up a story around and Turner certainly allows us to do that.
What really struck me in the garden was non of my neighbours were out even though it was really quite warm and lovely, what a shame some people let looming storm clouds put them off enjoying things.
I missed out the bit about my cat Kelloggs sitting in the middle of the path doing his yoga and licking his bits.
As for the muffin chocolate chips are not good for you so I take it upon myself to unburden the world of them and make it a healthier place to live for others.  (hehe)

Dear Trinity:

Funny you should mention a storm!  We had a really big one this weekend and I am still without a telephone.  I have a cell and a computer phone but don't use them on Keen because the power fluctuates so much here in the mountains.  I have had internet off and on and I just feel that I am totally grateful to God that we are not like some of the people in the Midwest of USA that have no homes left at all.  I love this post for I know the feeling of sitting in your garden and feeling the Universe around you.  My front porch gives me that feeling also.  Blessings love and thanks for the uplifting post today.

Rosie thank you for your comment, sorry to hear about the storm and the fact it knocked out your telephone.  I havn't been able to get into my garden for almost a week and I dearly missed the feeling of peace I get from it.  I am getting ready to redecorate the big bedroom which will become my indoor sanctuary.  Blessing and enjoy the peace you are hopefully getting from not having a phone x

How TC (terribly Cruel) of you to deny me my little taste of naugtiness once in ahwile. Actually chocolate in moderation is a good thing; lots of anti-oxident, and something else that I cant remember.... oh well I suppose that's one of the bad side effect - it destroys memory cells. Anyway, I will abate, but NO carob muffins PLEAZZE...if I cant have the real thing then no subsitutes... make mine blueberry.

Thanks for adding the part about the cat. I have a dog and this morning...by the way we've had some massive lightening/rain storms of late... was literally a morning after a big storm. For some reason my dog didn't want to go into the park so I left him command the walk and decided, consciously, to try to "see" the walk through his eyes. We had a neat time, but I still don't like stinky grabage cans and I REFUSED to examine the dog turd someone "forgot" to pick up.... AH...the city how sweet it is.

I've spent SO much time in England (which is where I assume you hail from) and the gardens are all SO fine but how could anyone NOT take advantage of the garden whilst the good weather is around and the flowers are in bloom. Beyond me.

Thanks again for sharing...

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

DP (Dubious Pouting), yes chocolate is good for you because it is made from cocoa beans and beans are a vegetable ergo chocolate is a vegetable, however chips are made by frying potatoes in fat and fat is bad for you ergo chocolate chips are borderline good and bad, so I stand by my original reasons for eating all the chocolate chips.  Now blueberrys, that is just plain cruel to make a berry blue you have to freeze it and berries have feelings too  hehe.
Reading about you walking around the city on all fours seeing the walk from your dogs point of view, reminded me of a picture I once saw of a dog sniffing another dog's arse with the caption:  Slightly woody, a hint of fruit with an underlying sniff of beef.  hehehehehe
I live in the south of england.

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

Listen you TC (Temperstous Crone), i.e. storm wizard... it's not nice to try to out fox the fox. I was NOT walking around NYC on all fours and you know it! How undignified... even a New Yorker knows better!

And frankly, YOU ARE the one that talks about having muffins so YOU must be TC (Truly Cruelest) for I bet you whip the butter and beat the eggs... NOW they have feelings too! Oh god, we're vegans out of animal rights - but what can we be if we consider EVER living object's feelings... skinny?

I have very good friends who live in Seven Oaks which is now one oak as 6 of the oaks were taken down in the hurricane of Oct 1987...yes I was in London that week on biz - HOW incredible it was to see... And then I have lots of friends out in Somerset, near Taunton where I've spent many an hour hiking over the mours and well ALL over the area all the way down to Land's End.

I love to visit your country. and beause the sky is so close to the earth storm watching is a very different expereince than here in US, especially versus out west in Montana for example where the sky is SO big and the heavans so high up... cant explain but gives very different complimentary expereinces of the weather.

Now I suppose its getting on to be your bedtime? Have you switch from tea and muffins to scotch and cheese and carckers?

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

DP (dearest patron).  Whip butter, beat eggs, whatever happened to just taking the wrapping off the muffins  hehehe.
Nothing wrong with walking around on all fours with your arse in the air, if you've got it flaunt it is what I say.
I live in Cornwall two counties down from Somerset.
OMG I can't stand the smell of scotch let alone drink it, no the sun went over the yard arm about 5 hours ago (well it did my yard arm cause I keep moving it lol), so it has been Pimms o'clock for a while now, cheese and crackers now that's healthy, especially if it's Chevre (french goats cheese), brie and a good stilton.   ohhhhhh yum yum yum.

TC (Tongue in Cheek),

I never considered that a dog probing my privates is not being invasive...merely an arse connoisseur.  Thank you for providing me with that perspective.

TM (The Mermaid), glad I could help honey, it's always good to see the world from a different perspective, just ask ~DP (darling pooch) she tried it herself this morning  hahahaha.

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

Oh I should have known you were a Pimms girl! Well... not bad, single malts myself but I'll enjoy a Pimms if your pouring.... as we are talking storms here. And yes your cheese selection is TC (Tantilizing the Cleft) between my lips. Good grief perhaps I've been into the scocth already for that was a stretch... my mouth is watering

BOOM.. that's the thunder that just cracked over my head. It's raining cats and dogs - are you sure yours is with you?  Mine is in the bath tub hiding... 67 pounds and scared of thunder!

I don't think there is anything sweeter than the smell of the air after a healthy storm. I see a lot of folks have viewed this post - I hope they read it.

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

DP (Dragon Poop, I can say that because I have just had word from a rather handsome Red Setter that you have quite a hot arse,  roflmao)
I hope I can't be arrested for tantilizing the cleft or I'll be in major trouble. I make proper pimms with fruit and everything, that way I can claim I am just making sure I am getting my '5 a day' fruit in take, hehe.
If it's raining cats and dogs you had better be careful you don't step in a poodle.  hehehe
I'm not allowed dogs so I have two cats, one of which thinks he's a dog, and for some reason one of them always runs outside when he hears a loud noise lol.

TM (Tastefully Mature)... I undertand that 1974 was a VERY good year!

TC (Tough C#*$)....  I thought THAT's what might come out of a dragon. You are TOO much! I do have quite a nice arse - if I do say so myself.

Do you make your PROPER pimms in the bathtub? If so maybe that's why my doggie is there. Would you please send him home after 2 drinks... that's his limit before he hits the trail

Sorry Ladies, I have no play on words, just wanted to add my 2 cents here................ I love the smell of rain...it's so clean!  Whatever was dirty is washed clean!  So out with the old and in with the new and let it rain!
We're having some storms here in Texas....the sky is full of billowy clouds, telling us somewhere close by the wonder of Nature is about to let us know she's here...listen to the thunder as it rolls across and witness the magnificent light show above. Listen to the whispers of Angels as the wind blows in your ears, singing their songs...of love and hope.
Thanks for the reminder!    Cheryl

DP (Decidedly Pontificating) what was 1974 a good year for, rear ends, red setters, walking around on your hands and knees. I'm blushing at what C#*$ stands for, wash your mouth out immediately.
Do I make proper Pimms in the bath tub, I make proper everything in the bath tub darned handy thing to have one of them is.

Capracious one, thank you honey, I enjoy watching a good thunder storm and light show. When I was in Hong Kong a few years ago I was listening to one and at one point I thought a whole building had collapsed the bang was so terrific.  And after the storm everything looks so clean and shiny nice!

# re: There May Be Storm Clouds Ahead, Maybe That’s A Good Thing.

Oh dear I just thought of a VERY naughty interpretation of what my C#*$ COULD HAVE stood for but please know... my mind is not THAT far down in the gutter. Second letter R.. still not saintly but hopefully I will redeem myself a little bit.

You will have to ask The great math Mind why 1974 was a VERY good year... I'm hoping I got that right but just in case 1973 was ALSO a very good year. For me I was having a ball in both those years but I will say NO more for fear I reveal a personal item that a Decrete Person such as myself ought never reveal...

thunder rolling by as the cayotes cry... that brings back memories. Cappie - you might not get into word play but you sure are great at words that are poetry

Isn't it wonder how nature inspires and mixes and mingles to give us great descriptions.

DP (double Pimms), no my Dad was in the army.

I knew it! Mine was a trick question... Army - it fits: every English Lass I know who is a big Pimms Aficionado is the daughter of an army guy. Go figure.

Well it's been great fun blogging today...I just adverted a hugh burst of rain on the way home...more storms on the wal.... so I guess LOTS of clearing out of the old and regeneration for the new...

Good night TC (Tender Clairvoyant)... And remember, Dream Well for we become what we dream....

Hmmmm. very interesting~ DP (Definitely Protaganistic) .... good going!  I like reading all of your wonderful adventures into Wonderland...I really do....but what about the well behaved doggie who willing lifts her butt for every other doggie to 'sniff'?  Now THAT is a good doggie lol

TC (Totally caustic) just kidding!  Love your poetic blogs.  They truly touch the heart.  Honestly, I broke down in tears.  Yes, I must go outside and listen (or try ) to hear nature.   However, living very close to a military airport it can be difficult.  But,  in my wily ways the baby birdies come for my crumbs and stray cats always find me. Darn!  Can't just let them starve.

I have 3 being delivered today as some jerk traps them and kills them but then I step in.  Oh, the mighty Ancestral Wisdom does her part.  Albeat small in the big picture.

I do have a garden though, herbal, and even it is failing.  It must be my stressed energy or lack of knowledge.  I do know how though so ... it must be the 'energy'.   Yes, sad a bit lately - don't know why but it happens to everyone here and there.   Then I pick my sorry ass up and keep going.  Ach!  Make fun if you must but it is not fun.

Love to all of you!   Ancestral Wisdom (Barb)
