If You Were An Animal

If you were to describe yourself as an animal what would it be and why?

I would describe myself as a monkey, because I'm constantly looking for fleas in my cats lol.  Seriously I would describe myself as an elephant (not because I'm grey and wrinkled), but because I'm slow but steady and eventually get there.

Dear Trinity:

I have all the characteristics of the Grizzly Mother bear which is one of my totem animals.  I am fiercely protective of those I love and I am a little bit of a loner also.  My life totem is the Mountain Lion and that totem also reflects my solitary pursuits!  I love how the animal medicine affects us throughout life.  My pet crow Henry who adopted me out of the wild years ago gives me great insight into the world of birds and he has been an inspiration to me also.  Thank you for sharing this blog with us today Trinity love for it is a good one as usual.

My top totem is Eagle, which reminds me to fly high and reach for Source, Great Mystery, I love lying in my garden staring at the sky imagining myself soaring and playing on the thermals lol.

Trinity & Rosie,

This blog has got me thinking now :)
Could you tell me how to formulate my totem pole as my interest is quite peaked!
Thanks for this wonderful exercise in expansion & awareness! I love it!!!!!!!!!

My top totem was given to me by Bright Destiny, but I found Lion by myself.  What I do is sit quietly with my eyes closed, go into a meditative state and then look into the darkness behind my eyelids, my totem animals show themselves to me, the first time it happened I was so excited I nearly peed my pants.  Just let Great Mystery know you are looking, relax and know they will come to you when you are ready.  Sometimes I get them coming to me just before I drop into sleep. Let me know how you get on.

Trinity,

On the course of my spiritual journey thus far, I have met my eagle, lion, turtle and elephant. My eagle was the first spirit animal introduced over 28 years ago. I was wanting to know the meaning of the positions on the totem pole and their meanings. Meaning lowest(closest to earth) to top (closest to higher realms) I suppose their placement has meaning and purpose. I shall meditate on this to get a visual of the actual totem pole! Thanks again!

Each person has nine animal essences or totems that walk through life with them, teaching and guiding them and in some cases, protecting them.
Most often these totems stay the same throughout your lifetime; however, changes in your life can sometimes cause your totems to change also.
These animals are found in 7 directions around your spirit:
East, South, West, North, Above, Below and Within.
The last two animals are walking beside you at all times; your Right Side (male) and your Left Side (feminine).
While sometimes the live animal is with you, often times they are not -- your totems are animal essences or spirits .

The East totem guides you through spiritual challenges. It guards your path to illumination.
The South totem protects the child within and reminds you when to be humble and when to trust. It also helps heal your inner child.
The West totem leads on your path to personal truths and inner answers. It shows you the path to your goals.
The North totem gives wise counsel and when to speak and when to listen. It also reminds you to be grateful for each blessing each day.
The Above totem is the guardian of the Dreamtime and gives you access to other realms and dimensions.
The Below totem shows you how to stay on your life path and how to stay grounded to Mother Earth.
The Within totem in the protector of your sacred space. It teaches you how to find your life's joy. This is a reflection of your inner self and often your power animal.
The Right totem protects your Male side
and it is your Father protector.  This animal carries your courage and warrior spirit.
If your Within totem is not your power animal, then this totem is.
The Left totem protects your Female side
and teaches you how to nurture yourself and about relationships and mothering.

Heart & Soul, Butterfly symbolises Transformation and shows us the different stages we go through in life. Asking are we at the thought or idea stage, or making decision stage, or taking action to make the idea a reality or sharing the completed idea. Butterfly medicine gives us inspiration for using colour medicine.
