I hope 2008 will be a less angry year to live through than 2007.

Sitting at home tonight reflecting back over this last year the one thing that stands out more than anything else is how angry the world has become, not just nations and radicals but as individuals we seem to be getting more and more angry.

It is very rare to hear courteous words, or see courteous actions.  It seems few people care how their angry actions or words will affect someone else, it seems if someone is angry for whatever reason, they will lash out and blame anyone they come into contact with, even if whatever it was that made them angry wasn’t the fault of the person they are harming.

It seems a lot of people want things their way and will use any means available to them to knock you down if you don’t conform, and they will recruit many vulnerable lost souls, much like themselves with promises of bringing someone else to their knees, just so they can feeling better and bigger within themselves.

We are becoming a world filled with bullies, the very people who really need help, yet because of their actions and attitude they repel more people away from them than they do towards them and so the vicious cycle continues.

My hopes for 2008 is simply this:

That the world becomes a much gentler place, and people start to realise that you can be a ruler or a millionaire and be much poorer than the person who has the lowliest of jobs or no money, but who reaches out to those in need with a friendly gesture or just a simple smile. I for one will try to treat everyone I come across with gentleness, understanding, respect and compassion.

Blessings for you all in 2008.

This is the best New Year wish I have heard so far.

This is so true, as I have observed this as well.  Non-reaction or kindness and understanding back doesn't always seem to counteract the anger (I've experimented).  Sometimes it disarms it for a bit, but its still there.  I feel sorry for those carrying anger around, as it is really fear.  Fear is a heavy burden.

Kindness matters and if we all agree the world will be a better place even through one simple act of kindness each day.  I wish you joy and love Trinity and like you I hope we become kinder and gentler towards everyone in the new year.
