Dalai Lama Wisdom

SPIRITUAL  Part 2

With kindness, with love and compassion, with this feeling that is the essence of brotherhood, sisiterhood, one will have inner peace.

We must take direct responsibility for our own spiritual lives and rely upon nobody and nothing.  If another being were able to save us, surely he would already have done so?  It is time, therefore, that we help ourselves.

The essence of all spiritual life is your emotion, your attitude towards others.  Once you have pure and sincere motivation, all the rest follows.

The dominant force of our mind is compassion and human affection.  Therefore I call these human qualities spirituality.

Without accepting a religion, but simply developing a realisation of the importance of compassion and love, and with more concern and respect for others, a kind of spiritual development is very possible for those persons who are outside of religion.
