FAIRY CHAIR * Transform an old wood Chair into a Fairy Garden

An old wood chair from a Good Will or Garage sell, can transform into a Garden highlight!  My Fairy Chair is planted with tulips in the Spring, and cascades with herbs and flowers of the fairy folk in the summer.   Here is how I created a Fairy Chair and a list of ancient flowers and herbs as old as time.  {By the way, I stake each of the chair legs into the ground with garden spikes for severe Prairie winds}  To protect the wood, I paint a thin layer of wood protector on it every year or two.}

As discussed on the Brass Ovary Radio Show:

MAKING A FAIRY CHAIR GARDEN

  • 1 OLD WOODEN CHAIR FROM GOOD WILL
  • TAKE THE SEAT OUT
  • With chicken wire, create a pouch loose & deep enough to hold 8”dirt
  • Staple wire in place of seat..
  • Line 2” thick with wet Sphagnum Moss {Wal-Mart or green house}
  • Fill in the pouch with Miracle Grow Potting Soil
  • Fill until dirt is level with chair

Ancient Historical Fairy Herbs for Your Chair

Bluebells – Attracts fairies to dance into your garden

Lavender – Fairies use the lavender to hang their clothes to dry

Poppies – To induce fairy dreams

Primrose – To attract love – but don’t let it die as it offends the wee ones.

Thyme – Invites the fairies into your home!

Since Perennials tend to fade by middle summer, also plant::

·        2 white alyssum

·        2  white impatience.

You can pre plant your fairy chair and keep it inside until warm weather allows.  For instant drama, that can be brought in and out of your house, plant your Fairy Chair with tulips.

PLACE A FAIRY DOOR PORTAL IN YOUR CHAIR

Want to place a beautiful fairy portal door in your Fairy Chair?

Here is a selection of four, 10 inch tall, Fairy Portal Doors, I found on the web:

Moms and Grandmas, placing a fairy door in your chair is a fun way to get kids interested.  Children can leave marbles, candy or shiny objects at the base of the door to attract the Fairies.

TWO HOT BOOKS FOR DESIGNING MAGICAL GARDENS

I love magical gardens.  So do my Grand Children!  Here are 2 books I found on Amazon for you:

The Charmed Garden: Sacred and Enchanting Plants for the Magically Inclined Herbalist - Diane Morgan; Paperback

Garden Witchery: Magick from the Ground Up - Ellen Dugan; Paperback

MY MAGICAL SCULPTURE GARDENS

I live on a tree canpied lane.  Across from my living space,  is my apple green studio surrounded by Sculpture gardens.  Every year I invest my heart and soul into a piece of unique sculpture that brings even nonbelievers on a hike down the lane to see what Ann Marie has in the tulips.   Last year, a circle of wolves were chain sawed into my 10 ft. Maple Tree.  Grueeting the eyes of passer bys, a 500 lb. Garden statue stands regaly in a 3 tier flower bed.  This Spring a life sized Marie Antoinette dress spun from threads of brass and copper, will be displayed in layers of flowers.

MARIE ANTOINETTE, MY NEWEST LIFE SIZED GARDEN SCULPTURE, IS ARRIVING IN THE SPRING DELIVERED BY HER ARTIST:  We are currently creating a platform to lock her down and display her. She will be safe from the Priaie Winds

HERE IS A PICTURE OF MY 500 LB GARDEN ANGEL THAT GREETS MY GUESTS.  SHE STANDS BEFORE MY APPLE GREEN STUDIO.

LAST YEAR AN AREA CHAIN SAW ARTIST CARVED 6 WOLVES INTO MY 10 FT. MAPLE TREE STUMP. After it was completed I took a picture.  To my surprise, beautiful orbs daced around it!
