Mantras and Incantations
Creating Your Own Mantras and Incantations
The power of the spoken word is
phenomenal, when we speak a thought outloud we are emitting palpable vibrations
that reach out and affect our environment.
Sound is an amazing tool that can alter the shape of anything, or the
dynamics of any situation. Several
countries have been experimenting with sound at very low and very high
frequencies, it has been discovered that frequencies at various levels can
effect changes in not only inanimate objects, but also in the human body and
mind. We as the mass populace, don't
have to go out and purchase expensive equipment in order to achieve similar
results; the human voice is an awesome tool that can be applied to create
changes within our own bodies and/or within our immediate environment.
"In
the beginning was the word, and the word was with God."
Mantras and incantations work
similarly, they both help to change the way we think and perceive ourselves and
life.
Mantras are usually simple one
line phrases that are always positively focused, and usually focused on the
person speaking the mantra; they are meant to improve self esteem and to
reconnect us with the Creator of all life, thus allowing us to blossom into a
more enlightened state of mind and being.
Incantations are usually spoken in
order to bring about a change within a person's environment, they are rythmic
and spoken in ryhme in order to entice the elements and all of Nature to dance
with the instructions of the incantation and bring about the particular
desire. Although incantations are not
usually used for spiritual advancement (enlightenment), they can easily be
created to do so. Incantations entice
the magic of Nature to become an active participant in our lives, mantras lift
our consciousness to a level where we are able to see beyond the limitations of
the physical illusion that we live in.
They can be created to bring about the magic of our spiritual growth,
rather than being spoken for material gain alone.
An incantation when phrased
appropriately can work like a powerful affirmation; yet, it is a request for
assistance from Nature Herself with a more focused desire for a
particular outcome. The rythmical
pattern of the words work quicker, because the mind responds in kind, more
easily accepting the magical and childish qualities associated with ryhme.
Creating an effective incantation is
easy if you remember the childhood phrase, "Keep it simple
Simon." The following are some
simple guide lines to creating an effective incantation.
1.) Keep the lines in pairs. This incorporates the essence of
"two", which is co-operation, duality, working in harmony,
opposites and polarities working together to create a positive result.
2.) Make the last stanza "three"
lines. This will anchor it with the
"power of three", or more appropriately ~ the "magic of 3".
"For two come together creating
the third; combined, the three become a new entity and we are back to One, with
structure and form which is the number four."
3.) Use words that are simple. State directly and clearly what you mean,
what it is that you desire, the way a child would ask for something without all
of the flowery adjectives that adults like to use in ryhme. With simplicity there is less room for error,
less chance of a misunderstanding to occur between you and the magic, between
you and the energy that you are calling upon for transformation.
"Words worked in simple ryhme,
bring back to you the child's mind; fit to use in all its Glory, as you unfold
a whole new story."
4.) "Transformation at any level, occurs only
through action." Action is movement
in any degree. Speaking outloud is an
action because it requires the movement of your tongue, lips, and vocal cords. Adding other body movements while speaking
the incantation outloud will increase the energetic movement. You may use your hands to touch your heart,
to point the energy in a particular direction, wave your arms through the air,
do a little dance, hold your arms out as if you are waiting to embrace someone
and then draw them into you ~ this will encourage the magic and energy to
become One with you.
Here is
an example of an incantation I created for my spiritual growth, I incorporated
the "I Am" phrase used in many mantras:
I Am the Seed
of Truth and Love.
I Am the Seed
of God Above.
Clarity is what I seek
in all I do and all I speak.
So mote it be,
As I decree
So shall I see.
Selah.
I
incorporated the last word "selah" to let it be known that this was
the end of my request and affirmation.
Selah is the archaic term for Amen, it is like saying "the
end" yet with reverence to the Almighty Creator.
To create a mantra that will help
you in your spiritual growth, begin with the phrase "I am" ... add to
it whatever it is that you need in that moment.
For example, when I have a difficult time keeping my cool, I simply say:
"I am God's Grace." I repeat
the mantra as often as necessary until I feel the calm returning to me, and I
am able to face the situation with love.
I highly recommed that any mantra be repeated at least three times ...
when the situation is really difficult, I will repeat it several times with an
emphasis on alternating words, like: I am God's Grace. I am God's Grace. I am God's Grace. Then I finish it up by repeating it again
without emphasis on any of the words. It
has never failed me. This particular
mantra has always been fast and effective for me.
Remember, whether you're creating an
incantation to bring something to you, or a mantra to raise your energy,
"keep it simple simon", and allow the magic to flow around and within
you.
Selah.
