OBSTACLES
What do you do when you are faced with one obstacle after another? You feel like you've just overcome one situation to find yourself face to face with another mountain to climb. Maybe you begin thinking you can't handle one more dilemma and then BAM another one appears.
I know all too well what it feels like to go from one crisis to another. My husband came home with news saying he was let go from his job after my son's heart surgery. Going through the experience of heart surgery with my adopted son with Down syndrome at three years of age certainly felt huge enough. Never mind having my husband be out of a job when he was the only one working. He found another job to only end up laid off right before Christmas, and today he can't even make it to work because he hurt his back. I've been ill for the past week, and today my little guy is coughing. My mother is facing gallbladder surgery as soon as my stepdad has his back surgery, and I know I'm needed there as well.
So what is the key? Take it one day at a time and minute by minute. Don't force yourself to make any quick decisions when faced with a crisis. Lean on the Lord or your higher power. Try meditating or going for a walk, and if that isn't possible just close yourself off in a room alone for a little while. Trust that you WILL overcome and you WILL find the strength to get through the obstacles. Believe in your abilities. There is a light at the end of the tunnel so TRUST you WILL get there in time. I believe there is a purpose and a time for ALL things. Obstacles often take us on new paths that maybe we would have not chosen to go, but wonderful things can happen on our journey if we are open to learning new things. So enjoy today for what it is regardless of your circumstances, and don't allow obstacles to steal your joy. Take those obstacles and turn them to your advantage! Focus on the good that can happen because of the issues you face, and find humor.
My mother use to tell me God only gives us what we can handle. I sat back many times thinking BOY HE MUST REALLY THINK I CAN HANDLE A LOT! What I have found is that my obstacles have turned out to be blessings in one form or another. I am able to help more people because of all of the things I have faced in my life. I can speak from experience, and I can remind you that our frame of mind and our attitude truly shapes the outcome of every obstacle you encounter.
It truly is a matter of focus. When you lose a loved one, you can focus on the LIFE or focus on the death. You can choose to see the blessing or merely mourn your own loss. When you lose a job, you can see the door being shut OR focus on the new opportunities ahead. Maybe this frees you up to do new things or simply take a breathe to find a new path. When you are ill, you can focus on every symptom or focus on everything that is working fine in your body or life. It's all a matter of focus and attitude. We can dwell on everything that isn't right and make ourselves sicker or we can believe in ourselves and focus on the gifts we have.
What may feel like an obstacle today may actually turn out to be a blessing. It really is in all how you look at it.
Wishing you the very best to be the best you can be!
God bless,
Serenity
Keep looking UP! ;)
