Boundaries

How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

These blogs have become......

quite testy lately. And there is no need for it, people over reacting to some comments, reading some comments the wrong way, taking offense where none may have been meant, copying the blogs of others, people being rude to each other in comeback comments and quite frankly if this kind of stuff keeps up we may well lose the right to blog altogether.

Let's just ALL try to get along here, this ability to blog is a gift, we can share experiences, we can gain or lose customers, it's all in the way we use the ability that has been kindly given to us by keen....

I normally do not blog unless I feel I have something to say, and my blogging ability or writing may not be cared for by some, and that's fine but I think we can all try to do better in the future.......

I definitely see what you mean. Most of the people around here do not know how to blog and need to take a how to blog class or at the least read How to blog and comment on blogs for dummies. I see one dude posting the same thing many times on the same page. That makes it hard to weed through to find the good stuff. I see people leaving comments telling the writer they are not psychic. That is just cold. I have looked through and found some good blogs with trashy comments. Then I have also found some trashy blogs.

Great Blog Joan and well said.  It does none of us any good to bicker and act like children.  You never gain a thing by that type of behavior.  I thank you for taking the time to post this today.

I am no blogging expert, never claimed to be, and I have no idea how to improve my blogging but I do my best :-) Yet, there is no need to be rude in comments as some are. These are a valuable resource and we need to appreciate them more :-)

KEEN BLOGGING has become strangely familiar - like the corporate TASK FORCE MEETINGS I used to experience at my old job.  Fortunately, we have the choice to join those bitch sessions or not.  We are not fired for not taking part.  Right?

One thing for sure….any one that uses blogs as the topic of their blog is guarantied to get lots of comments.  And that’s a good thing! lol   Its the new "Secreat."  And here is proof!

There is a way to comment on a blog without being mean or sarcastic or questioning someone abilities because they expressed themselves a certain way. We may not get fired for taking part but some sure do get fired up :-) And once the sarcastic comments start the over reactions are sure to follow.... So it heats the whole thing up...and simply stated there is no need for it. I felt the need to address this since the whole blog experience is becoming more negative all over and I am quite sure that there are other people who agree, not everyone will.....but i am sure some do...

Sister like I said on Lexy's blog that controversy does sell and that is a fact!  We can hurt ourselves here if not careful and I really hate to see the opportunity we have to use blogs to promote who we are taken away.  I hope we can find other things to argue about and eliminate sniping at each other.  We could start a blog on world hunger and who is is really making a profit off the backs of the poor etc!  That way we can argue and not attack each other!  Oh well maybe there is no end in sight to the turmoil but what the hell we can hope can't we?

We can disagree with someone without being mean or mean spirited..we can promote ourselves without taking away from others. That from my perspective was supposed to be the purpose of these blogs......
To share opinions, to share perspectives, to share articles with others not to bicker and argue, it makes us all look small.
We should hold ourselves to a higher standard than that...

There are many strong personalities here, there are many who are trying to become strong and use our blogs to learn how to do that as stated by a client of mine who said reading the blogs allowed her to continue her move in the right direction when she couldn't contact me.
Everyone has an opinion it's up to you how you react to it.  We are the teachers we are the pupil. I am learning to say "Zen".

I am glad that blogs are seen as positive by some callers but there are some who see them as quite negative, callers leaving rude comments and readers reacting negatively, it sometimes can leave a bad taste in the mouths and turn callers off...

If I say I am something ( whatever it might be, say spiritual, or something of that sort) that does NOT say YOU are not something (say spiritual)  or you are something else..... and it should not be taken that way. IF it is, it says more about YOU than the person who has written the blog :-) Please know and understand that.... sheesh...

You know, Joan, it's a privilege to be able to be in communication with our callers and we should be mindful of that...thanks! Carmen

I would also recommend, not posting the rude comments, if you can see that it may get the blog forum into a furore...C

All too often, because of the abuse of the blogs, some readers have become anxious, and we must bear that in mind, in the whole picture. It's a stressful job, and one never knows who is out to get who....so we should also go easy on those who post, and respect their views, but also respect that we come from a high stress job, with work place bullying mixed into it, people can become defensive. That's what I tend to look for - not the anger or negativity in the post, but the feeling behind it - ie, what lead this reader to post this? Are they feeling threatened? We have all been there, and this type of thing should be allowed, but carefully, as you state.

I must also say, that readers assume because you are posting in someone elses blog that you are taking 'sides' but that is not the case. Not with me anyway. I love'yall!

I am not sure that anyone should be out to get anyone on here, we are all advisors, We are not supposed to bicker, it makes us all look unprofessional and petty.  Many of our callers call several of us who know each other. ...and we all should have the ability to be professional and post how we feel without bullying another, negating the views of another or not validating them. Blogs are a great resource, and they can help share news, articles, and they can increase call flow but being mean and petty will not do that for anyone, thanks for your insight carmen...

Yes Joan, I agree that many of us are *not* out to compete with one another, but as we all know, there are some comptetive elements in this blogging venue  ( the way it is set up ) that encourages competition and we are human - and I have seen what that does on here.  I just wanted to be clear, and bring this up, so that we remember we are a team. :)C

There are so many better writers who post here, who express themsevles succuinctly and bring up issues that are beneficial to all of us. I do not know what other way this could be set up so that it was not competitive? I just choose not to compete... you bring up some great points carmen.

I have been thinking about this issue, and how we could lessen misunderstandings and such.

Here are my suggestions, 4 possibilities or options - some may disagree with me, I would love for one of these options the first one being my favourite:

a) there could smaller font type, so that twice the number of daily blogs could be viewed, maybe the posts could be set up in columns, thus mitigating any effects from perceived flooding or spamming and the resentment that could cause. We would have more exposure of our articles, and that could lessen the tension. OR

b)the number of views is removed OR

c)comments could not be seen until the post is opened. OR

d)the forum is moderated for Spam content, not blog content.

But hey, that's just my opinion, and that might take the fun out of it for some folks.

I am not sure you can see the comments until the blog is open? I am referring to the comments made after the blog by that, perhaps you are not?

# re: These blogs have become...... @ Tuesday, April 15, 2008 12:20 PM

I am referring to the comment volume that is seen when the blog is posted ( underneath the views ) - sometimes blogs are reposted - some for good reason - some not - but it seems comments make you want to take a peek, and by commenting on ones own blog can make it look better - as well as the option to repost old blogs with older comments. Maybe that option should be disabled. Dunno. Hope this makes sense. It's my opinion that comments should not define the quality of the blog?

# re: These blogs have become...... @ Tuesday, April 15, 2008 12:29 PM

In addition, Keen could keep the 'most viewed' section and the 'most commented' lists open, but there would be more options for posters to be read, rather than passed by by hiding the comments section under the actual blog publishing  area. C

# re: These blogs have become...... @ Tuesday, April 15, 2008 7:52 PM

I am not a fan of the re-posting older blogs, it's not so bad if they were posted a while ago but the same day several times? I believe that the most viewed section and the most commented on changes, not sure if its weekly? For me the comments so not define the quality of the blog as there are some blogs that have many comments that I do not care to read, however I can see where you might think they do. I am sure that no matter what it is done, it will not make everyone happy anyway :-)
