Boundaries

How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

Musings on opinions...

Considering the fact that I have a wonderful job, I love what I do, it's a no commute job, and allows me to be free to persue my degree ( which ties in with my job) and raise my children while being there and available for them while making a living doing something I love....
In my own opinion ( not shared by others that consider my opinion part of a problem ) I feel that my job does not end when the money runs out at the end of the call.
My philosophy for life has been to treat people as I would like to be treated and I remember that in my everyday dealings with callers.
Do I feel as if I need to finish a thought in a free follow up email? Yes, and I do so frequently.
I feel that since we are not doing a mindless job, such as filling coffee orders, we need to be aware that the words we say in delivering a message, even a follow up email have the power to effect others, they carry weight, so the message and the delivery count.
Do I feel the need to tell others how to live? No, it's not my place.
Do I have the right to label others? No, there before the grace of God go I... what we see from the outside does not necessarily reflect what's really going on.
Is it my right to tell people what is best for them? Not really, it's not my place.
Is it my place to give advice? Not really, I will if asked, but always qualify it with telling the person they should always rely on their own intuition when making important decisions.
Is it my place to tell others not to use spells? I personally do not care for the personal experience I have had that proves to me and anyone I have every heard of that used them, that spells have a very low track record of success. I will share my opinion but that is different from telling someone else what to do.
Is it my place to tell others how to run their keen business? No, nor do I try, I may share an opinion on a blog, but that is just my opinion. Opinions are harmless and we all have them. In the realms of opinion, there is NO right or wrong.
Is it my place to tell another what is best for them? No, nor do I try, if someome takes an opinion as telling them what to do? What can I do about it? That is their opinion of mine, simple as that.
When I blog, I leave myself open to comments and opinions of others, I am open and welcoming to all opinions and am not of the opinion that this is MY BLOG and I control this, I have no control over what is commented upon after I hit the post button. :-)
Does having that opinion make you right and others wrong?  No, and sometimes we learn the most from the differing opinions of others. I certainly have learned a lot from the different opinions shared on these blogs.
Is it my business to tell another how to feel about an issue? No, but if they want to take what I have written in a way that was not intended, I cannot help that, I have the power to say and write what I feel, what others do with that, how they take it, I have no control over that.
Blogs are great, they give people a different perspective and while it might not fully change those pesky things we call opinions, they sure can give us all a different way of looking at something, and that my friend is what's all important.
