The tax man cometh...why procrastinate?
Today's the tax return deadline. For those of you who have not filed, you have till Midnight tonight to get it done.
It's the same time every year...but there you are calling H & R Block, or Jackson Hewitt, or an accountant you've found in the yellow pages and panic when the receptionist tells you she can't fit you in until tomorrow (Thursday, Friday, Saturday...). You'll take the soonest appointment they have and you'll Plan B for the next best appointment elsewhere.
Then you'll do something like buy the Turbo Tax and throw your computer out the window when you either can't download the program or the program gives you a total you need to pay back Uncle Sam. (You can't take the computer off as a deduction or depreciation. While it may have initially been used for an educational purpose, the bottom line is you used it as a projectile, therefore negating the intended use).
I love the commercial where a man asks a woman, "do you know what time it is?" and the woman screams out, "I know...my taxes are due in 2 weeks and I haven't filed yet!" The poor guy only wanted to know the exact time, but instead gets a psychotic tirade instead.
Which leads me to the question....Why procrastinate? Why do humans wait till the absolute very last second to do something they know IN ADVANCE has to be done by a certain date? We are the only species who avoid and wait till we are forced to face the music then have the nerve to act surprised and go off on a 30 minute expletive-filled diatribe over the end-result.
My answer...Just get it done and over with! Give it to me; let me be in pain and end it quickly. This way I can taunt you procrastinators till you want to wring my neck or give me the 30 minute curse off. My mantra..if you're giving it to me, you're not taking it out on the poor tax-preparer who has to sit in the office till 3:00 am tomorrow doing your taxes.
So, all you procrastinators out there reading this...OFF THE MEAT AND ON THE FEET AND GET YOUR TAXES DONE!!!
Oh, by the way....I filed my taxes February 5th and got my refund in 6 days!!!! (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!)
