Now I have to also prefice this by saying...My Daddy's from Texas...San Antonio, in fact, so I'm only half Yankee.

It has been brought to my attention...actually the grocery clerk told me point blank and period......... there's no fresh sauerkraut here in Dallas!!!  HELLO!!!! You  don't have pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes on New Year's Day????  Uh.......NO! Black eyed peas is what y'all eat for good luck on New Year's Day........with corn bread.  OK, I do cornbread...in MeMaw's cast iron skillet...I got that...... black eyed peas????

I'm stumped.......I am embarrassed to tell you that I, the one who has a recipe for everything...does not possess a recipe for fixin' black eyed peas!!!

So, if anyone out there has a great recipe for black eyed peas to help this poor Yankee out, I'd surely be  beholdin' to y'all!

And if you could also clue me in on what else is eaten in the South for New Year's Day, I'd certainly appreciate it.....

Oh, that sound you hear, is my dearly departed Father and Grandmother rolling in their graves because I don't know how to fix black eyed peas!
