Prayers for Ellie Mae..

Any dog lovers reading this tonight, please say a prayer for our little Ellie Mae--see blog entitled '3 Pounds of Royalty'...I am anxiously awaiting for my daughter to arrive home so we can take her in to the Animal ER.  She was given a clean bill of health today & her shots...but about 30 mintues ago she became limp and glass-eyed, and stiff front paws.  I immediately called the Animal Emergency center and discribed her symtoms...they said to bring her in immediately!  I am praying nothing seriously wrong with her...this dog was given to my daughter a few weeks ago, shortly after her father passed away--and Ellie Mae has become a source of comfort for my daughter.

Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers that this is only a minor reaction to her shots...I will post an update when we return.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts & prayers...

Thanks Lollie--you are a gem!

It's almost midnight and we just made it back to the house--I'm wired to the gill!  Poor Miss Ellie had to stay over for some test...quite a few actually.  There are about 5 things that could be wrong with her; the test should reveal whichi it is. BUT...you know how that goes.

The least expensive & treatable would be epilepsy...worse case would be a serious liver condition that would require major surgery.

They said I could call in a few hours to check on her and they have strict instructions to call me (not my daughter) if anything happens or they figure it out tonight.

Hmmmm....for such a wee little thing, it didn't take her long to wiggle her way in our hearts!

Update:

Spoke with ER vet this morning, Ellie is doing better, more responsive & alert, but she still is having problems with her front legs being rigid.   All the test so far  have come back 'normal', thank goodness!

The liver test is a 2 part process, and they did the first part at 8:00...we should know the results by noon today.

I can understand the need for all these tests, BUT, I did quite a bit of research on Canine Epilepsy last night.  Based on what I read, she had a major seizure last night and is in the 'aftermath' of that seizure.  According to the vet journals I read, the aftermath of a major seizure can last several hours or days; is typical with her breed; and one of the 'triggers' is vacinations!   Of course when I mentioned all this to the vet, I was informed that it could still be this, that, or that...and we should do even more test!

I love this little thing, but so far all these test have cost my daugther $750.  So as long as this last test reads 'normal' (which I think it will), we are bringing her home and if she hasn't improved in couple days, take her to our vet.

Thanks for your thoughts & prayers...my daughter will be completely devastated if she loses Ellie--especially so soon after her dad's passing.   Not to mention that G-ma (that's me!) has gotten very attached as well! :)
