CREATING A PERSONAL IDENTITY: Updating Your Belief System
“It is the nature of a man…to protest against change, particularly change for the better.” ~ John Steinbeck
Many people experience a shift in their views or beliefs when they face a life threatening crisis. Priorities are adjusted; values change, self-perception shifts, and feelings are modified. Everything changes. Why wait until tragedy or a trauma forces you to update how you view yourself or the world around you? Make a conscious choice to start now and reap the benefits!
You can make the choice to grow and affect change simply and easily when you modify your basic belief system; about yourself, your looks, your body, your life, relationships, even your death.
If you updated such earlier beliefs to new beliefs listed below how would your life change? How would your interactions with others change? How would this affect your relationships?
Old Belief New Belief
I can’t I can
I am dependent I am autonomous
I am helpless I am powerful
I am unlovable I am lovable
I am not good enough I am always okay
I am not attractive enough I am a beautiful person
I do not control what happens to me I am the result of all the concepts, ideas and beliefs I hold
(Feel free to insert your own beliefs and replace with new/updated belief)
As with any change, shifts in a belief system only occur when you are open to them; what perceptions or non-rational beliefs are you willing to identify? Which ones are you willing to challenge or change? What techniques are you willing to use to update your belief system?
I will be available for Keen calls throughout the morning and evening with short breaks as needed. If I am showing as unavailable, please place a callback to ensure we connect.
