Temporary Inconviences Create a Lifetime of Laughs
Appreciation. It goes a long ways. And, until we realize what we don't
have, only then is when it truly dawns on us about how much we
appreciated what we DID have. Like for example, water from the tap - or
electricity. These things we take for granted, until one day we don't
have either. It's an inconvenience not to have water and electricity, and
gollie, we become a little irritable. It's easier to accept if we
realize that the situation is only temporary. Right?
In the process of my weekend ordeal of moving, something got caught up
in the paperwork, (in other words, someone dropped the ball) and hey-
no water, no electricity (translating to no internet service) for three
whole days. I almost went bezerk. (as in meltdown). What to do what to
do? Well, for starters - no amount of screaming or hollering or having
a meltdown was going to magically bring me water and electricity. Where
was the lesson in this?
First, the lesson was/is realizing that nothing is in my control. In
releasing my anger at the situation, I re-gained control of the
situation. I lit candles and bought some water for drinking.I camped.
(Yes, that IS a 4-letter word to me).
Second, I was rewarded with a lot of time to think of what I would be able to gain from this experience.
And, finally, I'm grateful because it gave me a blog topic, and how to
pull this experience together as it relates to relationships. "How's
THAT???" I know you're asking.... read on.....
Many times relationships have inconveniences in them, things that make
us irritable, things about our partners that we can't control or
change. If we stop focusing on what it is that is making us crazy,
angry, or irritable, and take the time to appreciate what we have in
front of us- the relationship strengthens because of the experience!
Well, that was my weekend. I'm sorry I wasn't available for your calls,
but it's Monday and a new day, and gee, I got my electricity last
night, and I just know the water is on the way :-) I am on limited
availability today as I wait on other details of finishing up a move.
I will be checking email and looking for call backs.
All I can say to you is what a great move, a joyful one, as it has created a wonderful
memory for me to laugh about....LATER..... :-) I pass this on to you in hopes that in your future moves, when things are out of your control, that you will learn to laugh about it and not let it stress you too much.
Make it a great day!
Sending you angels,
Jane
